Tidy Towns Fundraisers

clothing collection

Ballynacally has been involved with Tidy Towns for well over 50yrs. From a gold medal in the early years we have won Bronze, 3 Silver and 2 Gold in recent years.

A lot of work has gone into the village to enhance it and a lot of success in the competition has resulted. To continue with this enhancement the committee needs to continually fundraise and we ask you the public to help out by supporting us when you can through our fundraising events. We have raised money through bag packing in Dunnes stores, Selling bedding plants and our latest is a used clothing collection.

If you would like to be involved in Tidy Towns please contact any of the current members on our Tidy Towns page or email us here. Tidy Towns is an open community organisation not a closed group all are very welcome.....

Fundraising For the Hall

Why are we fundraising

Our community centre has become unusable due to roof leaks which have penetrated wall and ceilings leading a general dampness within the building. Also a failure of the steel central heating pipework under the Main hall flooring has caused this floor to rot. The old school also needs to be replastered to prevent ingress of water. The first floor of the old school is in a dangerous condition. The fire certificate has also lapsed and work will have to be done to enable recertification.ballynacally commity centre

Our Community need this hall to hold meetings and functions as do all community's, currently we have nowhere to go and have to use other village halls, an example being the training of young GAA teams who go to ballyea hall for wet weather training early in the year. Even fundraising is proving tricky without the use of the hall.

Grant available?

The new committee have set as a priority the repair of the hall and have found out quickly that grant aid isnt as easy to source as it was in recent years.  Grant aid for the old school is still available as it is a listed building but the committee must hurry to raise enough monies to qualify for the grant aid. The Development committee have begun the task of raising this money with a series of local fundraising initiatives. To date almost €8'000 has been raised through these fundraisers but a lot more is needed, in the region of €20-25K. However the community are enjoying the fundraising events and it is clear that so many are willing to come out and help. More info of the fundraising events to date available through the fundraising tab on the menu bar above.

Over the summer the committee are working on an event, more details later and they are also planning for an auction for November, we really need to pull together to make these events a success. Hopefully we can look forward to a Community centre that is both usable and well used.
