A fabulous display of community was evident in Ballynacally last Sunday as the Development group and Clondegad GAA came together with many volunteers to raise funds for the village hall and football pitch.
The auction saw over 60 trailers of Timber, with turf, coal and fodder sold. Produce sold quickly under the hammer of talented auctioneer Pat Considine who made the event more enjoyable.
A wonderful selection of home baking also sold quickly along with many sale of work items. The raffle was a good earner.
A lot of background work went into preparation for this event including the hard work of felling and chopping firewood for the auction.
The two groups would like to sincerely thank all who helped, donated or turned up to purchase items at the auction and sale or work.
(The above image which shows a bunch of flowers was left by the development as a mark of respect for Tony McElroy. A week prior to the auction Tony, who was well known in the area for his many years of meter reading suffered a heart attack just outside the community centre as he began his journey home from Ballynacally. May he rest in peace)
The total raised on the day was a fantastic €12000.
